How to choose the correct wine glass?

We often get surprised when we go to a restaurant, we sit at the table and see many glasses of wine; if the waiter wasn´t there, surely we would not know what wine is for each cup.

It's really easy. In this case we will differentiate between red wines, white wines, sparkling wines, rose wines and wines to accompany desserts; if we want to know more we could differentiate between grape varieties and regions.
  • Red wine: there are endless cups for red wine, each one targets a different variety. The most common is  Bordeaux Red Wine Glass, is wide and high, with fine rounded edge.
  • White wine: Similar to the characteristics of the glass of red wine, it is a little narrower and lower to maintain the temperature of the wine.
  • Sparkling wines: usually quite high and narrower than the other glasses. Its height is increased to appreciate the bubbles and so they can stay in the glass.
  • Rosé wine: Similar to the glass of red wine, usually thinner glass to appreciate the sweetness of the wine to be drunk.
  • Wine to accompany dessert: it is the smallest of the five glasses and the foot is shorter. It is used to accompany desserts, sweet wines and sherry.
